100th birthday milestone
Former Inverurie man William Ingram who has celebrated his 100th birthday
It WAS 100th birthday celebrations at the weekend for a man with strong Aberdeenshire connections.
William Ingram lives in Evanton in Easter Ross but was born in Kintore and spent most of his working life in Ellon.
Mr Ingram was supervisor of the former Aberdeenshire County Council’s repair depot in the town.
He moved to Harrogate when he was in his 80s before returning north to make his home in Evanton to live near his daughters Muriel and Barbara, who stay in the village.
Barabara’s husband Adrian Clark, 62, said: “The local fundraising group had a celebration for him in the village on Saturday. He is a very reserved man but he did manage a waltz and thoroughly enjoyed himself. He will be glad that the celebrations are now finally over.
“He is still independent and lives on his own, but his daughters pop in to see him each day.”
Mr Ingram, who was pre-deceased by wife Lillie, has two daughters, a son Stephen, who lives in Harrogate, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr Clark said his father-in-law is planning a visit to the North-east in March.
