A prize winning end to 2012 for Kenny

LOCAL man Kenny Mackie started 2012 with some in trepidation as he was one of a handful of individuals left at International Paper following the closure of the Paper Mill three years ago.

Kenny was offered roles in Poland or Brussels but wasn’t keen to move away from the North East and was finally made redundant in April. The Business Support Manager was fortunate to immediately find new employment working in the oil industry and around the same time had some more good fortune when he won a photo competition and a holiday to Thailand.

2012 ended with even more good fortune, when Kenny spotted a competition on Facebook. The country’s top butcher, Davidsons of Inverurie were offering a prize of a 60 day dry-aged carvery rib roast via the social networking site Facebook and Mr Mackie was the lucky chap to win from over one thousand entries.

Steven Cusack of Davidsons said “We have had an amazing Christmas with all our fresh produce selling well in an exceptionally busy period. As we look to grow our sales of quality produce including through the website its been a great response to our Facebook page competition. I’m sure Kenny and his family will enjoy their prize.”

Davidsons is currently the recipient of “Butchers Shop of the Year” and is the only butchers in Grampian to hold Q Guild status.
