Animal charities are set for a busy time with the festive season still in full swing.
The Scottish SPCA’s Aberdeenshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre looked after 248 animals on Christmas Day.
The charity’s centre in Drumoak is open to the public 365 days a year.
Manager Graeme Innes said: “It’s a heartbreaking reality that there are lots of pets without loving homes to call their own this Christmas time.
“However, thanks to our dedicated staff, no animal in our care spent Christmas Day alone and we even made sure they all got a treat from Santa.
“We’ll be here ensuring they’re fed, watered and exercised every day as usual.
“Our inspectors and animal rescue officers continue to rescue abused, abandoned, injured and neglected animals throughout the festive period so we also need to be on-hand to take in any new arrivals and offer them a place of safety.
“There are lots of pets who are ready and waiting to find their forever homes right now.”
The public are welcome to drop by the centre which is open from 10am to 4pm everyday to meet an animal they’re interested in rehoming, donate food or toys, or just to visit the animals.
