INVERURIE’S award winning butchers, Davidsons Specialist Butchers, has got its tenth anniversary year off to a flying start.

After employee Andrew Peter was named UK Young Butcher of the Year and the company scooped seven gold awards at the prestigious Q Guild Awards late in 2013, Davidsons Specialist Butchers ended the year on a high note with news that festive online sales were up no less than 25 per cent on the previous year.

On Tuesday, (January 14), George Stevenson, President of Aberdeen Burns Club presented a celebratory certificate of participation in the Year of the Haggis.

And John Davidson and his teams at Inverurie, McCombie’s Court, Aberdeen and Dobbies, Aberdeen are busy with orders from all over the country for haggis of all shapes and sizes to form the centrepiece for Burns celebrations on and around January 25.

Year of The Haggis is an initiative in co-operation with the Scottish Federation of Meat Traders (SFMTA) and supported by sponsorship provided by Grampian Oat Products and Scobie & Junor.

The members of the Scottish Federation of Meat Traders will be receiving a poster for display, together with a participation certificate, identifying them as suppliers of Haggis in this special year.

John Davidson said: “The 2013 festive season was not without its challenges but the hard work and dedication of the teams at all three of our locations meant that it was one of our best years to date. We are particularly pleased with the level of growth in our online business which people have used to order and pick up in store or have delivered to their door anywhere in the UK.”

“We now look forward to a year of celebrations to mark a decade in business and hope that customers old and new will join with us in marking this milestone occasion.”
