It was a double celebration for a young Ellon student when she recently graduated with a first class honours degree from Robert Gordon University.
Steph Asher, 21, won the Best Year 3 Communication with Public Relations Student award during her third year, and went on to claim the same accolade this year, both for achieving the highest grades.
Steph has already stepped onto the career ladder, working full-time as marketing and communications assistant at Expro, an international oilfield services company based in Dyce.
She said: “I have enjoyed writing from a young age so knew I wanted to do something related to that.
“I also liked the variation the Communication with Public Relations course had - it includes a mixture of PR, media and management modules so thought it would give me wide experience as I have interests across PR, marketing, events and media.”
Steph added: “I think the course was great and some of the modules have definitely helped me gain work experience and jobs. We have had a substantial amount of work-related modules - as part of a small team I had to organise a fund-raising event for a local charity.
“This was invaluable experience as I had to organise every element of the event, develop and maintain industry contacts, create a marketing and PR strategy for it and run the event itself.
“We raised more than £5000 for the local charity which is a great achievement.”
