Keep fit stalwart and fund-raiser Evelyn Cook is a familiar face on her daily cycling trips around Methlick.
Accompanied by her golden Labrador Millie, Evelyn - who will soon be 76 - thinks nothing about clocking up the miles in all weathers.
And she is now turning her attention to the Methlick Bike Ride which she is organising on Saturday, June 7, for another international project.
The event is to raise funds for a child and maternal health project in the Dang district of Nepal, to improve the health of mothers and their babies.
Evelyn is a veteran of bike rides and treks both here and abroad and is bound for Nepal in November for a cycle challenge in the Himalayan foothills.
The grandmother of 11 has undertaken 16 sponsored events through the Edinburgh Medical Missionary Society, beginning in Israel. Others have taken place in Malawi and the list also includes a trek in Sinai and another in the Anapurnas.
Evelyn said: “It’s a wonderful thing to raise money, to help those who need it. The bike rides themselves and these events are great reunions - the making of new friends as well as the renewing of old.
“I also like to visit the charities I support to see how the money is being spent.”
This year’s Methlick event sees Evelyn tempted back after taking a break for a few years with the aim of raising up to £3000.
She said: “I decided it would be great to have another bike ride because they are such fun. At the moment I have more than 40 people registered and I know there will be quite a few who turn up on the day.
“I also have a great back-up team who provide bakery, teas and soup.”
The ride will start at Methlick Church at 1pm and cover 10 or 25 miles.
