TWO tireless charity fund-raisers with strong links to the Garioch have been recognised for their inspiring work in the New Year Honours.

Angie Shearer, who has family ties to Inverurie and is one of the event organisers for Inverurie’s highly successful Twighlight Walk, that raised an outstanding £56,500.00 for Cancer Research UK last year, has been awarded an MBE for services to cancer research.

Angie began fundraising for Cancer Research UK when she was 15 and has helped to raise £750,000 over the last 13 years, and is also a driving force behind Peterhead’s Relay for Life that raises around £100,000 annually for the charity.
