LAST week Kintore Rotary President Victor Nicol dropped in past Kintore Senior Citizens Wednesday afternoon meeting where it was announced that Kintore Rotary have funded the group £500.
This was part of the Kintore Rotary Funds4U initiative, which asked for local Community projects to apply for funding. This summer the first recipients of the funding were Kintore and Kemnay Youth Programme, who received £580 for their summer programme. As the Senior Citizen’s were welcomed to their first meeting of the new syllabus, it was also announced, to much cheer, that the group would use this £500 to fund their Christmas lunch in December.
Kintore Senior Citizen’s Group run a varied programme of entertainment for their members every week in the winter months. Any Kintore Senior Citizens, who would still like to join, should come along to the Church Hall on Wednesday’s at 2pm.
• Last Thursday At Thainstone House Hotel Neil McDonald presented his own take on his successful Everest challenge to spellbound members and friends of Kintore Rotary.
Local Kintore man Neil successfully scaled Everest on May 25, 2012 after setting himself a challenge to raise money for research into finding a cure for juvenile diabetes; a condition, which his daughter Darcy has suffered from, since she was three. To date he has raised over £120,000.
President Victor Nicol presented his Climbing For A Cure fundraising charity with a cheque for £350 from Kintore Rotary.
