GORDON Liberal Democrats have announced the selection of Christine Jardine as their successor to Sir Malcolm Bruce to stand at the 2015 General Election.

Christine, a former Special Adviser in Downing Street, also worked in the North East for both the BBC and the Inverurie Herald’s sister paper, the Deeside Piper.

She was also the party’s candidate in the recent Donside By-election increasing the Lib Dem share of the vote by 2.3 per cent.

Sir Malcolm said “I am delighted that Gordon Liberal Democrats have chosen Christine Jardine as their candidate following my decision to stand down at the next General Election. Christine has strong local connections.

“I have no doubt that she will campaign energetically across Gordon and take up the issues that matter in the city and shire.”

Christine has said “It’s a privilege to be given this opportunity. We have a tremendous record in Aberdeenshire and especially in Gordon where Malcolm Bruce has been a strong and effective voice for 30 years.

Sir Malcolm has represented Gordon at Westminster for over 30 years since being elected in 1983.
