The Induction Service for Rev. Neil Meyer, the new Parish Minister of Kintore, took place on Friday, (August 8), led by Gordon Presbytery Moderator Rev. Douglas McNab, Newmachar.

Neil was an Elder and Youth Minister in the Uniting Presbyterian Church of South Africa, was then ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament and served in parishes in Johannesberg and near Cape Town.

He and his family, wife Michelle, daughters Christine and Brigid, moved to Scotland last year where he completed a familiarisation placement at Craigiebuckler Church in Aberdeen.

Neil said: “My family and I have been overwhelmed by the hospitable welcome we have received from the folk at Kintore.

“Kintore is an exciting, growing town and I’m looking forward to being a part of the church’s service to our local community.”

The church was packed for the service and the congregation included many friends who had come from Craigiebuckler.

The sermon was by Rev Gillean Maclean, Udny and Pitmedden, part of who’s training was at Kintore when the late Rev. Gerald Macallan was Parish Minister.

Refreshments followed in the church all, where a welcome cake was cut and small gifts were presented to Neil and his family on behalf of the congregation.
