Sharing the school experience

Parents of Aberdeenshire pupils and young people will have the chance to find out more about their children’s school and wider learning experiences in March.

The council is holding two parental involvement events on Saturday, March 16, at the Lochter Centre, Oldmeldrum ,and Saturday, March 23, at the Fraserburgh Community and Sports Centre. Both days will run from 9.30am to 2pm, with lunch and refreshments provided.

The events are aimed at giving parents the chance to find out more about the learning experience offered in schools and other educational areas with the opportunity to meet other parents and ask questions of representatives, including Maria Walker, the council’s Director of Education, Learning and Leisure.

There will also be a range of interactive stalls and discussions groups, focusing on the ways parents can get involved in their children’s learning, the new national qualifications offered via the Curriculum for Excellence, assessment and attainment in primary schools and opportunities for wider achievement.
