VOLUNTEER organisers of Inverurie’s 10k Twilight Walk have announced that this year’s Twilight Walk will take place on Friday, May 9, starting and finishing at the Garioch Sports Centre.

Angie Shearer, one of the organisers said, “Last year’s walk surpassed all our expectations, we were aiming for 500 participants and to reach almost 700 was incredible, so too was the amount raised - £56,500! We really hope the community will support us for another year to raise the money needed to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured!”

And organisers are delighted that award winning local bakers J.G.Ross (Bakers) Ltd have committed to continue as the Twilight Walk’s Platinum Sponsor.

Graeme Ross said, “We had absolutely no hesitation in confirming our support for such a worthy cause again this year. It epitomizes the support and resilience of North East folk. If you have never taken part before I would strongly encourage you to do so this year. We will be there, will you?”

Angie added, “We are extremely lucky to have the continued support of the Garioch Sports Centre, J.G Ross (Bakers) Ltd as our Platinum Sponsor and Denholm MacNamee as our Gold Sponsor. The team effort truly helps in the fight against cancer. As a family we are even more dedicated towards beating cancer after losing my Auntie Sandra Morrison, from Inverurie, in August 2013 to Bowel Cancer and we greatly appreciate the support from everyone involved to make sure the Twilight Walk continues so we can raise even more life saving funds for Cancer Research UK’s world class work.”

The walk is open to men and women aged 13 and over, more details on how to register can be found on the website www.twilight-walk.com.

If any other companies are interested in sponsoring this year’s walk please contact Angie Shearer on 07793713927.
