Tickets available for Thainstone event

THERE are still some tickets for Grampian Police’s Rural Crime event on Saturday, March 23, at Inverurie’s Thainstone Centre.

The event will run from 9.30am to 1.30pm and refreshments will be provided.

The event is aimed at those living and working in rural areas and will include tips on crime prevention to help communities prevent themselves becoming victims of crime. There will be presentations by Grampian Police’s Crime Reduction; Wildlife Crime and Roads Policing Units to address these key areas of rural crime.

Additionally, experts from the firearms licencing, species licencing and land ownership sectors will be on hand to discuss rural and wildlife crime issues.

Nationally, rural and wildlife crime such as poaching and theft is on the increase and the event at the Thainstone Centre is a proactive approach to raise awareness to stop the national increase spreading to the Grampian region. Specialist information and advice will be given to those living and working in rural areas to better equip people to protect their property from rural crime.

Aberdeenshire Crime Reduction Unit PC Kev Marron said: “Farms, rural businesses and properties can often be targets for thefts of scrap metals, machinery, gates, quad bikes, fuel and even livestock, to name just a few items, and this event is aimed at providing the relevant information and contacts so that communities can be confident in reporting suspicious activities to the police and to enable communities to reduce crime in the countryside.”

Tickets for members of the public and opportunities for businesses to attend and have stalls are still available. To apply for a free ticket or for further information, please contact PC Lisa-Marie Dick at lisa-marie.dick@grampian.pnn.police.uk
