Woman charged after dog incident
A WOMAN has been charged after a young boy was allegedly attacked by a dog in Inverurie.
The 11-year-old was allegedly bitten by the animal at a house last week. Police were called there around 3pm on Thursday, February 9.
The boy was said to have sustained facial injuries following an incident at the house and was taken to Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.
A Grampian Police spokesman said: “We can confirm that a 49-year-old woman has been charged in connection with an incident in Westburn Drive, Inverurie. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
The alleged attack involved a Japanese Akita - the dog was destroyed by a vet.
The Akita originates from the mountainous northern regions of Japan.
There are two separate strains of the breed, the Japanese Akita and the American Akita. The American strain is now considered a separate breed from the Japanese in many countries.
