LAST nights scheduled derby match between Inverurie Locos and Huntly, that was due to be played at Harlaw Park, was the latest to fall victim to the winter weather. The match was postponed due to “a snowbound pitch and surrounding areas”.
The postponement of the eagerly-anticipated derby encounter was yet more frustration for the Locos, who have not been able to take-part in a competitive match since beating Forres at home on November 20. Since then away fixtures at Lossiemouth, Deveronvale and Turriff and the home match against Cove have all been called off.
It had been hoped that there would have been enough of a thaw for the eight to 10 inches of snow on the surface of Harlaw Park to melt and for the pitch to be made playable but unfortunately it was not the case and the game was postponed.
