INVERURIE Locos extended their winning run with an impressive 4-0 win over Brora Rangers at Dudgeon Park with a first half double from Neil McLean sending them on their way.
A lively start to the game saw Brora force an early corner while at the other end Craig Ross shot just wide as both teams went in search of the first goal of game.
Locos opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Neil McLean’s cross come shot from the left sailed over Steve Martin and into the net. They should have added a second when a quick break down the left saw a cross from McLean presented Nicky Gordon with a gaping goal but he headed wide from close range.
In the 28th minute Liam Baxter fired in a shot which Andy Reid was equal too while the Locos were causing problems on the left and Nicky Gordon saw an effort cross the face of the goal but there were no takers.
The visitors did go two goals ahead in the 36th minute when Neil McLean finished off a fine move with a 25 yard shot that Steven Martin, despite a valiant effort, was unable to keep out with the ball just rolling over the line and into the net.
In the 51st minute a quick throw in from James Murray found Liam Baxter who fed Ryan Mackintosh but Andy Reid touched his effort around the post for a corner.
However Mackay was not to remain on the field for long as two yellow cards in the space of six minutes provided the visitors with a man advantage. They soon made the most of it with a third goal arriving in the 65th minute. Clark Bain’s lovely crossfield ball from the right found Craig Ross and he advanced before drilling an unstoppable shot past Steven Martin from the edge of the box.
In the 76th minute Craig Ross bore down the right and unselfishly laid it into the path of sub Keith Thomson but with the goal at his mercy he somehow missed the ball completely
Brora’s best move of the game very nearly produced a consolation effort. Steven Ross released Liam Baxter but Keiron Adams got in an important block to turn the ball away for a corner just as it seemed certain the net would bulge. Right at the death Inverurie Locos grabbed a fourth goal when a Craig Ross cross was headed in by Nicky Gordon.

After the match Locos co-boss Kenny Coull said, “We’re just delighted to have come through what is normally a tricky trip with three points. Our guys performed well, and they have grabbed a few goals and a clean sheet as well so we’re very happy.
“Neil McLean was outstanding throughout the game, and his performance powered us on. I would like to see a bit more of that from Neil, but it shows just what a key player he is when he’s doing things like that.
“In our eyes we have lost some silly points throughout the season, but we’ve come back in amongst it in the last four or five games and playing well.
“Previously we hadn’t been picking up too many points but we’re starting to do that as well now, so that keeps ourselves in the pack. But we just have to look after our own form at that end of the table. People will drop points and we will drop points, there’s no doubt about that. “
This Saturday Locos play host to recent Aberdeenshire Cup winners Deveronvale at Harlaw Park. Kick off is at 3pm
