The recent meeting of Kintore Rotary featured the presentation of the annual Citizen of the Year award.

This award is given to citizens of Kintore or Kemnay who have been nominated for their services to the local community, and who go “above and beyond the call of duty”.

This year’s winner is Meg Mackay from Kintore. Meg is the secretary of Kintore Senior Citizens Club and, along with her committee, she organises all meetings, trips out (the latest being a trip to see the Kelpies at Falkirk) she also organises the entertainment and catering for the Christmas party.

On top of this Meg also organises a Monday evening Health Walk in Kintore and is a keen member of the local walking group, often doing recces ahead of the walks to ensure suitability for all members.

She collects every year for Christian Aid and also transports elderly people to local whist and other activities. A very well deserved winner indeed.
