MEMBERS of the Rotary Club of Oldmeldrum were interested to hear from Scott Allan, this week’s guest who spoke ably about his interest and passion for T’ai Chi, which he described as moving meditation.
Scott spoke about his own reasons for taking up T’ai chi and the benefits he has since found to his health and wellbeing, explaining some of the background to T’ai Chi although the exact origins are unknown. He spoke briefly about four of the main styles, but all have similarities and take the form of slow, co-ordinated flowing movements.
T’ai Chi is a martial art. However, to develop the skills and sensitivity required to use it in this way takes many years of dedicated practice. In response to questions, members were told people of all ages and levels of fitness can learn.
