INVERURIE’S swimming star Hannah Miley retained her British 200 and 400m Individual Medley crown’s at the British Gas ASA National Championships held at Ponds Forge, Sheffield last week.
Hannah captured gold in both medley races winning the 200m IM in a time of 2:12.01 ahead of Sophie Allen in second place with 2:14.15 and Sophie Smith who was third with 2:14.50.
She added the 400m IM gold to her collection in emphatic style winning in 4:39.12, six seconds ahead of Kate Hutchinson who finished second in 4:46.55 and Emma Smithurst who was third in 4:49.55.
During the four day Championships Hannah also found time to come fifth in the 400m Freestyle, sixth in bot the 200m Buterfly and 200m Freestlye and seventh in the 200m Backstroke.
It was perfect preparation for the FINA World Championships which take place in Shanghai, China in July. Hannah had already booked her place prior to the ASA National Championships.
There was more good news for the Garioch Amateur Swimming Club when it was revealed that rising star Emily Jones has been selected as part of an 18 strong British Gas Great Britain Swimming Team to compete at the FINA World Junior Championships that take place in Lima, Peru from August 16 to 21.
