North East SNP MSP Mark McDonald, patron of Gordon Dementia Services (GDS), attended and officially opened a fundraising golf event at Kemnay Golf Club recently. The fundraiser for the service was well attended with 25 teams entered.
Following the golf, there was a quiz and a raffle and over £6,500 was raised, which will go towards funding future GDS work.
The charity is based in Inverurie and provides the best possible care for its service users throughout Aberdeenshire, giving their families and relatives the assured knowledge that their loved ones are being looked after in a most professional manner.
A day care club is attended by around 50 people with group activities including crafts, entertainment, gentle exercise and social outings.
GDS is based at Pleyfaulds House, Bainzie Road, and employs manager Evalyn Colliera and five part time staff.
Upcoming events include bag packing at Marks and Spencer in Inverurie on Saturday, December 1 and a quiz night at Inverurie Town Hall on Saturday, February 9. The GDS event at Kemnay Golf Club will also take place next summer.
Commenting after the event, Mr McDonald said: “I was very impressed with the turn out and the money raised. It is a cause very close to my heart and I would encourage any avid golfers to get involved in the event which will take place during the summer next year.”
Evalyn added: “I would like to thank all those who attended and supported the fundraiser with donations. The day was great fun and I hope to see many more golfers next year.
