GARIOCH Riding for the Disabled Carriage Driving season has ended on a fantastic high.

Neil Warner competing at the Scottish RDA Carriage Driving championships at Sauchieburn, Stirling where he won both the dressage and cones sections and achieved overall Scottish Champion.

Against stiff competition Neil has qualified for the UK RDA National finals to be held next July at Hartpury in Essex. Angie Murray also from Garioch also achieved a wonderful third place.

Garioch Carriage Driving holds twice weekly meetings at Strathorn Farm near Old Rayne during the spring and summer months. After a very successful year the driving sessions are coming to a close. However the group will still be meeting monthly over the winter until the driving sessions restart again in April 2014

The club held its summer show for friends and families where all enjoyed a barbecue and watched the drivers compete for prizes and rosettes. There was also had a spectacular pleasure drive and picnic on the Haddo Estate. Entertaining the Maryculter RDA Carriage Driving group was another fun day with a barbecue and the club are making a return visit to their group shortly.

The club is a purely a voluntary organisation that works tirelessly to improve lives offering a challenging and rewarding activity. Garioch RDA Carriage Driving at Strathorn Farm constantly need to raise funds for equipment, upkeep of their meeting hut, travel costs to competitions, and occasionally a new horse or pony. To send Scottish champion, Neil, to the RDA National Championships next year will also cost a huge amount in time and effort of all volunteers. If any organisations or individuals would be willing to assist with the funding towards this fantastic project they would be more than delighted to hear from you.
