Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) for Inverurie have organised a new development for the locals.

After holding successful groups in Stonehaven and Aberdeen, they are now looking to start a weekly exercise after stroke group. An information and taster session will run at Tesco Community Room in Inverurie on Tuesday, October 7 from 1.30-3.30pm and is aimed at those who have had stroke, their families and health professionals.

CHSS Community support worker Caroline Peter said: “Join us for a coffee and get to know the instructor. The group is specifically for those wishing to improve their strength, stamina, balance and co-ordination as well as general health following a stroke.”

The class will be ran by a fully qualified Exercise After Stroke instructor - one of only two instructors with this kind of specialist qualification across the North-east.

Caroline added: “Over 68% of those who have had a stroke take no regular exercise and this can have a great impact on their future health. We are hoping to offer specific exercise after stroke to help address this need.”
