Newburgh volunteers praised for their service

Awards were presented to a group of volunteers in Newburgh earlier this month in recognition for their hard work throughout the years.

The volunteers who help at Newburgh Ythan Cronies Group received badges in conjunction with Older People’s Day on Wednesday, October 1,

Older People’s Day celebrates the achievements and contributions made by older people in society.

Every week older people gather to enjoy a cup of tea and a chat and various activities at the Newburgh Ythan Cronies social group.

Members accepted their awards at the Newburgh Public Hall where Isobel Smith collected a 1st Clasp, 20 year badges went to Doreen Fowler, Charles Fowler, Marry Adams, Janet McAndrew, Connie Hutton, and Moira McIntyre and Dorothy Stein took home 30 year Badges.

20 year badges also went to Marry Adams and Connie Hutton but they were unable to attend the event.

The Royal Voluntary Service has been helping people for over 75 years.

They believe that sharing time changes lives and that our volunteers can help support older people in their communities with the challenges of ageing.

Various volunteering opportunities are available with the Royal Voluntary Service.
