After spotting an ad for a competition on a dance venue’s website, local DJ, Paul Boyle decided to enter with a mix of his favourite trance music.

The Scotland-wide competition invited DJ’s to submit their mix to their Facebook site and Paul was one of two Scottish winners to have a chance to play a set the coveted ‘Colours’ club at Ingliston, Edinburgh.

Paul (30) from Kemnay, who is a window cleaner by day, was eurphorious after his win was announced. He said: A few of my mates play the decks so I picked it up from them - they inspired me. It’s been a happy time and I’ve played at birthdays and parties locally.

“I saw the competition online and I’d just recorded a mix for a friend so I uploaded the mix.

It was an open-genre competition for up and coming DJs to give them a chance to play at Colours, the biggest in Scotland. It was down to votes on facebook and then the judges at colours listened to the mixes and chose the best two.

“I’m still in schock - it’s a chance in a lifetime, a dream come true.

Anticipating his session at Colours, Paul said: “The sky’s the limit so long as I play well, the future looks bright. I’m working on my set for Colours. There will be over 60 big name DJs there playing between 3pm and 1am and the biggest name is Tiesto who is known all over the world.

“I never thought I’d get a chance to do anything like this - it’s really opened my mind and I really hope it’s going to be the start of something.

It’s a massive opportuntity for me. I’ll be in the ‘Exposure’ arena. That’s where all the new talent comes so there will probably be talent scouts looking for new talent.
