Esslemont SWRI president Mrs Helen Smillie opened the meeting by welcoming everyone to the members’ night.

The activity was supervised by Susan and Neil Smith from Painteramics.

All members had the opportunity to choose a ceramic ornament and decorate it in whichever way they wanted.

When the activity was over all had tea and Susan judged this month’s competitions.

Winners of the competitions were:

Flower of the Month - 1st Margaret Grieve; 2nd Annie Paterson; 3rd Linda Milne.

Black and White Teacosy - 1st Jean Winterbottom; 2nd Annie Paterson; 3rd Margaret Grieve.

Peppermint Creams - 1st Jean Winterbottom; 2nd Annie Paterson; 3rd Linda Milne.

The business meeting was then conducted prior to Helen Smillie wishing everyone a safe journey home.

President Elsie Murray welcomed guest speakers Ishbel Imrie and Annie Forbes and members to the February meeting of Fetternear SWRI.

After Bulb Show and Scotch Night business was discussed, she introduced the two community nurses.

Ishbel and Annie gave a very interesting and amusing talk on their nursing experiences through training and general nursing to their roles in community nursing.

They answered members’ questions and then judged the competitions:

The results were: Valentine Verse - 1st Margaret Salter; 2nd Elsie Aiken; 3rd Jane Fish and Lorna Skea.

The New Zealand trophy was awarded to Juni Kardaneh for her Valentine poem.

A lovely tea was served by Elsie Murray and Elsie Aiken.

The raffle was run by Iris Keith, Nan Singer recited a Doric poem and the vote of thanks was given by Jane Fish.
