THE Inner Wheel Club of Inverurie met in the Kintore Arms Hotel for their February meeting when Lara Anderson, Past President of Oldmeldrum Rotary Club and her mother, Aileen Anderson, President of Ellon Inner Wheel Club were welcomed as guest speakers by Moira Keith.
In support of Rotary’s goal of a Polio free world, Lara and Aileen had visited India last year on a Rotary Immunisation Scheme.
Polio has almost been eradicated throughout the world since Rotary International supported an Immunisation Programme in 1985. Europe has been Polio free since 2002 and over 200 countries throughout the world have been covered by this programme.
Unfortunately four countries still experience cases of Polio, but immunisation has been stepped up in these areas.
Lara and Aileen were ably thanked for their presentation by Jean Ramage.
The Club’s annual Pancake Morning in aid of local charities will again be held in Kintore Public Hall on Saturday (February 19) 10am until 12noon with an entry of £2. All are welcome.
