Stay safe at a Bonfire Display

Enjoy a safe Bonfire Night this year at one of the organised bonfire and firework displays that will take place in Inverurie, Kintore, Kemnay and Oldmeldrum.

This year’s Inverurie and District Bonfire and Fireworks Night will be held on Saturday, November 1, at the Thainstone Centre, Inverurie. Entry will be available from 5.30pm, with the bonfire being lit at 6.30pm. As always it is a charity event with all money made going back to worthy causes in our local community. The event is organized by Inverurie and District Round Table. Suggested donation for admission is £5 per car or £1 per pedestrian.

Returning this year after an absence of number of years is the Kintore Fireworks Display. It will take place on Thursday, November 6 at 6.30 pm at the Kintore Primary School Playing Fields.

The event will start with Pyromancy Fire Performance and Display Group at 6.30pm. The bonfires will be lit about 7pm with the fireworks display at 7.30pm. Refreshments will be on sale, including a barbecue.

Kemnay Community Association will be hold its Annual Firework Display at Bogbeth Park on Wednesday, November 5 from 6pm. Literopes, glowsticks and sparklers will be available to buy and burgers will be on sale from 6.30pm. At 7pm bonfire braziers will be lit and at 7.30pm the fireworks display will begin.

The Oldmeldrum Sports and Highland Games Committee will hold an annual Fireworks Display at 6.30pm on Saturday, November 1, at Meldrum Academy. There is ample free parking, but in the interests of safety please do not bring your own fireworks.

• The Scottish SPCA have issued their annual warning that fireworks can have a serious impact on the welfare of all animals. The charity is reminding people to bear in mind that fireworks season can be a very stressful time of year for pet owners who are trying to protect their animals from the fear and distress they can cause.
