A LOCAL Cub/Beaver Scout leader and event manager has organised a Tina Turner Tribute night at the Kintore Arms Hotel on Saturday (May 14).
Tribute act Kinisha will come to Inverurie to entertain together with a Disco Inferno by Road Runners, in aid of the Scout Group Hut Refurbishment, all for £12 per ticket.
Lyndsey Wallace of Clockwork Events has organised the event to help towards the refurbishment programme’s £12,000 budget.
The Scout hut celebrated its 50th birthday recently and is being refurbished. Local businesses got together a few years ago to repair the roof but the interior is also in need of an overhaul. The plan is to move the existing kitchen in to a bigger room and develop the old kitchen area into disabled toilets and a ladies toilet.
The group has already raised a huge amount towards this through dedicated fundraising, but more is needed.
Lyndsey Wallace said: “I have been a Cub/Beaver Scout leader for a year and I have a child in Beavers and a child in Scouts. At the top of all our leaders’ wish list is to have a decent kitchen and toilet. The current kitchen is practically unusable and the toilets are not up to current requirements. We are part of the way there but still need to keep pushing to fulfil our dream hut! Once we get the refurbishment it opens up a whole new world of possibilities for the individual group programme activities, for fundraising and it opens up the opportunity to let the building out which would help generate revenue for the group to enable us to fulfil our next wish list which is camp kit.”
