A DRIVER had a lucky escape this morning after her vehicle left a north east road and plummeted down an embankment into trees.
The accident, which happened at around half past eight this morning, took place on the B993 between Inverurie and Kemnay, just over half a mile from the junction with the A96.
The accident took place on a section of road without a crash barrier. While road conditions were damp, no other vehicle is thought to have been involved.
Fire appliances from Inverurie and Kintore helped to release the trapped driver from her red Pugeuot 206 using cutting gear. Although paramedics were in attendance at the scene, the driver was uninjured and was not taken to hospital.
Police officers re-opened the road shortly before 10am.
