FOLLOWING previously rejected calls to reinstate the number 325 bus service from Oldmeldrum and Newmachar to Aberdeen via Dyce, North East MSP Mark McDonald has welcomed Stagecoach’s plans to consult with Aberdeenshire Council to review the gap in service provision.
Stagecoach has indicated in a letter to Mr McDonald that they plan to enter discussions with Aberdeenshire Council regarding the potential for an off-peak service to fill the transport void made by recent service amendments.
During a Community Council meeting in Newmachar in October 2012, a commitment was made by Stagecoach to seek clarification of service use by contacting all those who signed the petition to support its retention. Stagecoach has since confirmed that they are currently looking into the received responses.
Commenting, Mr McDonald said, ‘I was very disappointed with Stagecoach’s previous refusal to review the service and am pleased to see that they are taking into consideration the views expressed by my constituents. It is essential that the information surrounding service use is fully clarified, in order to ensure that decisions made on service reviews are accurate.
“I am very glad to hear that Stagecoach is looking to consult with Aberdeenshire Council regarding the potential for an off-peak service. Following the withdrawal of the service, it is clear that my constituents have experienced great inconvenience, particularly with local healthcare access. Therefore, I urge representatives from Stagecoach and the Council to carefully consider the implications of this gap in service and take urgent steps to amend this void.”
