Tributes paid to Inverurie minister

Tributes are being paid to the well respected Minister of St Andrew’s Parish Church, Inverurie, the Reverend Graeme Longmuir who died suddenly while on holiday.

The Reverend Longmuir passed away while on holiday in his beloved North Uist on Sunday, August 17.

Described as having a “large personality and infectious laugh” and having been a hard-working, stalwart of the community.

A touching tribute has been posted on St Andrew’s Church website, reading, “Thanks be to our Lord Jesus Christ that those who believe in him shall not perish but live forever in his company “

The Reverend Longmuir had been minister of St Andrew’s since 2001, having previously taught music on the Uist’s and been Chaplain at Strathallan School, Perth.

Prior to that he taught music in the Uists for eighteen months, having been Chaplain at Strathallan School, Perth.

He was Vice-convenor of the Church of Scotland’s Panel on Worship and Convenor of its Liturgical Committee for almost 10 years, producing “Songs of God’s People” and “Common Order 1994”.

The Reverend Longmuir’s funeral service will take place today, (Thursday, August 21), in St Andrew’s Parish Church, Inverurie at 1.30pm. Donations to St Andrew’s Church and The Music Fund are requested in lieu of flowers.

The Reverend Longmuir will be interned at North Uist.
