Two years of fundraising

The fundraising efforts by St Andrew’s Church, Inverurie continues this weekend when on Saturday, March 31, from 12 noon to 2pm, St Andrew’s Church Fund Raising Committee will host a Spring Soup and Sweet Lunch in the Fly Cup.

As well as delicious soups and sweets, there will also be an extensive second hand book sale in the adjacent Old Hall, from 11am to 3pm, with a choice of paperbacks and hardbacks to suit all reading tastes at a very reasonable price. A warm welcome is extended to everyone to come and enjoy lunch and to browse the books at leisure.

The date is significant as March 31, is exactly two years since the fund raising campaign for the renovation of St Andrew’s Church was launched. Over the past 24 months the Committee has organised a wide and impressive variety of events: a balloon race, concerts, car boot and jumble sales, a sponsored walk, a “Buy a Brick” appeal, monthly lunches, coffee mornings with sales tables, a Ragbag scheme, a fashion show, a Christmas Fayre and specially commissioned Christmas cards and calendars.

Kit Pawson, who is stepping down as Chairman of this committee after two years in the post, said, “ Thanks to the hard work and total commitment of the members of the Fund Raising team and the unstinting generosity of other loyal Church volunteers, the congregation and their friends, I am delighted to report that, since April 1, 2010, we have raised over £68,000 for the renovation of our beautiful Church.

“I should like to thank everyone for their wonderful support in helping us to achieve this magnificent sum of money. The committee will continue to fund raise, as the original target was £100,000, and I wish them all success in reaching this amount within the next two years.”
