FOUR members of staff at Donview Veterinary Practice are hoping to raise £1,000 for Cancer Research by running the 5K Race for Life.

Vets, Gemma Insley, Clare Own and Laurie-Anne Ferguson, vet nurse student Laura Marnoch and receptionist Phoebe Smith will all set out on Sunday, July 3 to complete the run along Aberdeen’s beach front.

Gemma said: “I did it last year so I decided to do it again and my colleagues seemed keen to get involved so now five of us are doing it. Last year I raised about £400.”

With really busy schedules, training is proving a little difficult. Gemma explained: “We’re trying to run once or twice a week but it’s really difficult to run out together so we run between patients and callouts and any free minutes we can get.”

Clare added: “We’re doing it because it’s a well known cause and cancer affects a lot of people. As vets we know that it affects a lot of pets and their owners as well.”

Anyone who would like to donate or sponsor the group from Donview should call (01467) 621429 or pick up a sponsor form from Donview reception at Burghmuir Place, Blackhall Industrial Estate.
