THE Meldrum Amenities Improvement Group held its annual Hospitality Evening in Morris's Hotel, Oldmeldrum to thank their large team of volunteers who helped to plant and water the baskets throughout the summer season.
Chairman Andrew McCartney said their dedication and efforts were rewarded by winning the Large Town section of the Formatine in Bloom competition.
The Meldrum Community Garden Project - The William Forsyth Community Garden - had been part of the
judge's circuit including Westbank Home and Wyverie Court residential homes.
Andrew also expressed his thanks on behalf of the committee to the many community and business organisations who continue to support the flora displays throughout the town.
The Meldrum Amenities Improvement Group is always looking for new helpers and anyone wishing to join the dedicated team of volunteers should contact Lesley Gill on (01651) 872223.

This Saturday (October 18) between 9am and noon the team will be planting thousands of spring bulbs. All are welcome to come along and join in the community and fellowship.
The Amenities Group are holding a fundraising dance on Friday, October 31, in the Royal British Legion Hall, Oldmeldrum featuring top local country band "Broken Wing". Money raised will go towards the Christmas Illuminations and tickets cost £8, which can be obtained from Andrew on (01651) 873473 and Meldrum Motors. It is hoped that there will be a good show of community support for the event.
• This year's Christmas Illuminations switch-on and street party will take place on Sunday, December 7 at 3pm.
