KEMNAY boxer Mike Reid is "itching" to get back into the ring next month, having signed to Braveheart Promotions.
And Thainstone Exchange is once again set to be buzzing on Saturday, June 28 with another top night of boxing being planned.

After some disappointments in the last couple of years, Mike is delighted to be making his professional return after arou
nd a year at his favoured welterweight class.

Mike said: "I'm absolutely itching for the fight; it can't come quickly enough. Because it's been a year since my last fight, and I'm so keen to get back into it, I'm going to use that to my benefit.

"I've been keeping myself fit and the training is something I've always enjoyed. Maybe the break helped me get some of my energy back."

He added: "My career needs a bit of rebuilding. One of my major problems was making the weight, which won't be a problem when I'm fighting at welterweight. Maybe I listened to too much advice in the past as well, rather than keeping my focus on what I was doing myself. Whatever happened in the past is gone though, and I know I've got it in me to come back stronger than ever.

"I'm delighted to be under Braveheart Promotions because I really like how they go about things."

Grant Jeans of Braveheart said: "We are delighted to be working with Mike, who is one of the most promising young boxers. We're aiming to expand our banner to the North east and all around the country. The June 28 fight will be a treat for the fans.

"We'd like to get Mike a Scottish title fight before the end of the year. Dates have been spoken about but at the moment we just want to concentrate on June 28."

The boxing event at Thainstone promises to be high quality with promising Scottish boxers Martin Watson and Stevie Weir being mooted on the bill.

"The show is selling well already and we know from past experience that everybody enjoys their night. The atmosphere is always electric and it would be great to give the fans the right result."

Tickets for the June 28 event are priced at £65 each or £585 for a table of nine. They are available by calling (0141) 248 8882 or 07518 075837. Prospective sponsors can also find out more by calling (0141) 248 8882.
