THERE have been celebrations at Inverurie Academy and Colony Park Boys Club since last week with local lad Barry Robson being the first Colony product to go on and be capped by Scotland at full International level.
The Dundee United captain, formerly of Inverness Caley Thistle and originally on the books of Rangers in the Dick Advocaat era, came on as a second half substitute in the Scots' 1-0 friendly win over South Africa at Pittodrie.

The Colony club was
formed in 1978 by the now Honorary President Dod Reid MBE who for many years has dreamed of seeing a club product being honoured at full level by his country, and Dod was delighted Barry was the one to achieve the accolade.

He looked over Robson career with great pride: "Over the years I have hoped to see someone play for Scotland but it would be unfair to say I've expected this one or that one to do it.

"Barry always knew what he wanted to do in life, he never hid the fact he was much better at sport than the educational side at school. I know he was very disappointed it didn't work out at Rangers, especially as Ally McCoist and Mark Hateley were there at the time and he learned a lot off them.

"He had a lot of determination to do well and always had a lot of skill and I am glad he has developed well in professional football in Scotland.

"Going on to be captain at his club Dundee Utd proves a point about his quality and it is a great honour for him and his family. Everyone at Colony is delighted for the lad."
