Lads on the end of a United Grill-ing!

Formartine United 5, Lads Club 2
LADS Club kicked off the Grill League Cup game and made the first chance with a shot from Hendry going wide of target.

A cross into the area from MacLeod caused chaos and the defence were in disarray before Barney grabbed the ball.

Formartine
took an early lead in the fifth minute. MacLeod headed the ball across the front of goal and Beattie placed his header past Barney.

United's lead was short lived as Lads Club drew level in the 12th minute. A corner played in was met by Thomson who drilled his shot into the net. With 16 minutes gone a cross from Leslie was met by Bruce but his downward header was taken by Horne.

In the 18th minute a MacLeod cross was spilled by Barney but the keeper recovered to clear. A long range effort from Lonie was held by Horne. A free kick for club was tipped over by Horne. Burrows took a free kick for United which was headed for a corner. From the corner the ball fell to Young but his shot was wide of goal. Good play by Club on the right ended with Forde firing high and wide.

United re-took the lead in the 36th minute. Macleod held the ball up and played in Beattie, he sent a square ball to Brown who struck into the net despite a valiant attempt by Barney. Three minutes later, after good play between Maitland and Burrows, the former's cross was cleared for a corner. In the 42nd minute Barney appeared to drop the ball at the feet of Beattie he gave a pass to MacLeod, he appeared to be tugged back by the keeper but the referee wasn't interested.

Lads Club made a sensational start to the half. A throw in found Forde who fired the ball home with a spectacular overhead kick in the 48th minute.

United responded and went in front again three minutes later. Forsyth made a strong run into the area and squared to Beattie who slammed the ball past Barney. United went further ahead within three minutes. A long ball across field opened up the visitors' defence and was met by Burrows who deftly chipped into the corner of the net.

United almost went further ahead in the 58th minute but MacLeod's header was deflected for a corner. A good cross from Young was blasted over by Maitland. A deflected Forsyth shot went agonisingly past the post. Club were still fighting and a cross from Forde was clutched by Horne. A cross from Haddaway was met by Forsyth but Barney smothered his shot.

Formartine wrapped up the game in the 85th minute. A corner was punched out by Barney but fell to MacLeod who steadied himself and lobbed into the goal.
