THE annual Scottish Highland Football League Awards Dinner was held at the Newton Hotel Nairn with representatives of all 15 clubs being joined by senior SHFL officials and an entertaining Guest Speaker Robbie Glen.
Locos top scorer Scott Michie capped the end of his first season with the Harlaw Park outfit by picking up the Clubman of the Year award ahead of fellow nominees Tommy Wilson and Steven Park.

Boss Dave Cormie won the Manager of the Year award last season while in charge at Huntly but it was not to be for him this time. Championship winning boss John Sheran and outstanding midfielder Paul Coutts won the respective top awards in a memorable season for Cove Rangers.

Since then it has been confirmed Cove will be officially applying for the vacancy in the SFL created by the demise of Gretna. With a new stadium only in the planning phase, the Aberdeen side are rated outsiders to be called up, Spartans, Annan Athletic and Preston Athletic the more likely contenders.

All will become clearer by the start of July when the four candidates will have stated their cases by presentations and undergone visitations from SFL officials, but it looks odds on the Highland League will again be contested by 15 teams in 2008/2009.
