Dee were unlucky not to get entry into the Highland League in 2009 and continue to perform well at Aberdeenshire League level so were a good choice for final opponents after defeats by Elgin, Peterhead and Alloa

The visitors went ahead in 26 minutes, centre forward Michael TAYLOR tapping the ball in after Ryan Broadhurst’s attempted slide clearance was unfortunate to come off the post into Taylor’s path.

Ex-Cove and Keith star Jamie Lennox helped make it 2-0 four minutes later by producing a slick flick on for early sub Ryan HALL to slide under Scott Mathieson.

Locos were playing a fast moving passing game with captain Neil McLean and returning John Maitland at the heart of the engine room build up and in 38 minutes Gordon FORSYTH reduced the leeway with a bullet header from a diagonal ball.

Jordan LEYDEN made it 2-2 a minute from the break punishing indecision in the away box as they struggled to clear a McLean inviting ball.

Locos held the upper hand in a substitution riddled second half and deservedly went ahead five minutes from time, Martin LAING scoring with a header which ex Locos custodian Michael Smith frantically tried to claw off his line at height

Referee Calum Spence produced a crazy decision, awarding a free kick when Mathieson was clearly the player fouled and sub Scott PATTERSON applied the flicked header at the back post to tie it at 3-3.
