COLONY Park Juniors produced a strong performance to win heavily against Fochabers with goals from Greg Dorrat, Adam Maitland, Stephen Hart, Clark Christie and Mathew McDonald. The result ensures that Colony Stay top of PMAC Group Division Two going into their Scottish Cup tie against Fauldhouse Utd next weekend.
Colony attacked from the start and should have been two up with striker Greg Dorratt passing up chances from close range however eight minutes into the game they were awarded a penalty when Dorrat was taken down by the keeper as he broke through into the box from the left.
With the crowd expecting a red card for the keeper, the referee simply pointed to the spot and Dorrat stepped up to take the kick which was well saved by Flynn in the Fochabers goal. Fochabers buoyed by the penalty save and retaining the services of their keeper then put in their best attacking moves of the game and forced four corners in a row.
Colony defended them all and prevented any shots on goals by the opposition. Dorrat and Maitland had shots on target before Colony went on a six minute goal scoring spree. DORRAT scored the opening goal in 29 minutes striking from close range following a cross from Maitland. Two minutes later MAITLAND added a second with a drive from close range into the corner of the net. A minute later McTavish produces a great cross on the left wing and DORRAT added his second and Colony’s third in 31 minutes.
Colony continued to pressure the Fochabers goal and in 35 minutes HART scored with a volleyed strike from just outside the box to give Park a four goal lead. In 36 minutes HARROLD scored for Fochabers taking advantage of a defensive mix up, but Colony continued to attack and they increased their lead further when DORRAT completed his hat-trick. McTavish produced another excellent cross and Dorrat headed well into the Fochabers net giving Colony Park a 5-1 lead at half time.
From the start of the second half the match continued in the same vein as the first half with Colony Park pushing for further goals. There were chances for Dorrat and Hart which were close. In 57 minutes McDonald replaced Dorrat who had worked hard up front. Three minutes later McDONALD beat two Fochabers players and slotted the ball in the net. McDonald had been aided by some excellent runs of the ball by Colony attackers who dragged defenders out of position to leave space for McDonald’s great run towards goal. In 62 minutes Christie replaced McTavish, who put in a good shift for Colony. Maitland had a good shot saved as Park continued to press. Brown replaced Roddie in 72 minutes and almost immediately CHRISTIE scored from close range to make the score 7-1. Following an excellent move involving Maitland, Hart and Christie MAITLAND finished the move with a well taken goal in 79 minutes. Further attempts by Crosbie, Christie, Hart and Maitland went close before McDONALD wrapped up the scoring with a good left foot strike into the corner of the net to give Colony Park a 9-1 victory.
Overall this was a great win for Colony with good performances from all the squad and it gives them an eight point lead in the league at this early point of the season.
