Colony Park Juniors continued their winning start to the league season with a 7-0 victory over Aberdeen University.

Ironically the University side had the first scoring opportunity, but the shot was blocked for a corner which the Colony defence cleared.

Park responded by forcing two corners in quick succession before a slick move between Strachan and Ross set up a goal for Adam Maitland who netted from close range in eight minutes.

Five minutes later Colony added a second. Roddie made a great run into the Varsity box before passing the ball to Brown whose well-struck shot was saved by the keeper.

However the ball rebounded to Jack Strachan and he found the net from an acute angle.

The Inverurie team eventually scored again in 27 minutes when Strachan and Roddie combined to lay on a second goal for Maitland, who again scored from close range.

A minute later the visitors had a great opportunity to get a goal back but the shot from close range went over the bar.

Colony Park had a couple of further attempts on goal from Davidson and Brown but the score remained three nil at the interval.

In a rare attack University managed to force a corner which the Park defence cleared.

On 56 minutes Calvin Roddie found space in the middle of the Varsity box and he hit the ball into the net to take a 4-0 lead for the home side.

Colony Park were now well on top of the game and only some great saves from the visiting keeper kept Maitland and Strachan from adding further to their goal tally.

However, there was little he could do when a Roddie solo run from the right goal line saw him hammer the ball high into the net from an acute angle resulting in a sixth goal for Colony.

Minutes later Strachan had a shot well saved while Brown had the rebound cleared off the line.

Colony substitute Peter Douglas replaced Adam Maitland in 82 minutes.

Colony continued to attack through to the final whistle with efforts from Strachan, Roddie and Cairns before Strachan completed his hat-trick in 89 minutes when he slipped the ball under the keeper to make the score 7-0 at full time.

The win keeps Colony Park Juniors at the top of the league after their opening four matches.

On Saturday Colony are at home to Newmachar United in the McBookie League East. Kick-off is 2pm.
