There have been some changes across the summer at Colony Park Juniors.

Most notably founding member and club President Allan Booth has stood down and has been replaced by Trevor Hart.

Trevor paid tribute to Allan for his superb leadership which has resulted in the development of a thriving football club. Allan has been made an Honorary Life President by the Juniors and he will remain on the Committee. Another important change has seen the departure of Tommy Wilson to Inverurie Locos. Trevor said that Tommy was superb as a coach and sometime player for the Juniors and best wishes go to him from the club in his new position with the Locos. The club will make an official announcement on their new coach in the near future.

Off the field the Juniors have continued to put resources into Colony Park with work to improve the pitch and the addition of new goalposts/crossbar. Trevor acknowledged his thanks to all the Committee for their work across the summer and also particularly to Sandy Robertson and Ian Gerrard.

Colony Park Juniors will continue to have Andy Roddie at the helm. Trevor said, “Andy’s commitment to the Juniors is tremendous and I am looking forward to working closely with Andy to ensure that he has the support required to continue to build the team. To this end, Andy with the assistance of Charlie Ferries and with a view to adding depth to the squad, has made a number of new signings; namely Steven Morrison and James Cairns from Glentanar, Ross Durno from Newmachar Utd, Kevin Paterson from Tarves and Kevin Stewart from Banchory St Ternian.”

Pre-season is now coming to its closure and the Juniors have played a couple of friendlies against Echt and Alford winning both matches by 4-1. There final match against Sheddocksley resulting in a 3-0 home win took place last Tuesday with Calvin Roddie opening with a fine header in the first half and Greg Dorratt scoring twice after the
interval.

The Juniors opening match of the season is in the Grill League Cup when they face Dyce Juniors at Ian Mair Park on Tuesday, August 4, kick off 7pm. The first league match is away to Newmachar Utd on Saturday, August 15.

Trevor said, “I’m delighted to be taking over from Allan and hope the club can have continued success as we strive towards a place in the Superleague. There is a real buzz for the new season to get underway.”
