FOLLOWING last weeks postponements Colony Park Juniors got back to winning ways with a solid 4-0 win against Bishopmill Utd in Elgin - maintaining their lead in the Pmac League Div 2.
Colony welcomed back Ross Crosbie and Steve Hart from their recent injuries and also featured new signing from Culter FC Craig Duguid in goals.
Craig, an ex-Colony juvenile, had a loan spell with the juniors last season and so he is very familiar with the Colony Park set up.
Colony playing uphill in the first half immediately took the game to Bishopmill and Dorrat had an early shot saved.
The visitors continued to dominate. In 18 minutes Hart struck a shot which looked goal bound but it was blocked and the ball came out to McTAVISH on the edge of the box and he shot well into the back of the net to give Colony Park a lead.
Colony continued to press and almost added a second in 26 minutes when Dorrat missed a good opportunity as he watched his shot creep past the post with the keeper beaten.
Bishopmill eventually had a great chance tp score in 39 minutes when their striker was through on gaol but Duguid in goals brought off a great save to keep Colony in the lead up to half time.
From the start of the second half Colony Park attacked the Bishopmill goal.
Bobby Maitland and Crosbie had early shots before DORRAT picked up the ball in 52 minutes on the right wing and drove past two defenders before placing the ball under Bishopmill’s keeper into the back of the net.
In 61 minutes McDonald replaced Strachan and he almost scored with his first touch but his near post flick just went past the post. A minute later Bishopmill were awarded a penalty which was brilliantly saved by Duguid to maintain Colony’s two goal lead.
Duguid followed this up with another great save a few minutes later. Colony fought back and an interchange of passes between Dorrat and Adam Maitland resulted in MAITLAND scoring with a short range shot.
In 78 minutes, with the game seemingly drifting to a quiet close one of the Bishopmill players head butted Craig Brown.
This resulted in the Colony and Bishopmill players becoming involved in a bit of a melee.
The outcome was that a Bishopmill player was red carded for his action against Brown and Steve Hart from Colony was also red carded for his intervention to protect his fellow player.
Colony continued to press for the remainder of the game.
Smith and Roddie replaced McTavish and Dorrat. In 84 minutes Adam MAITLAND added a fourth goal for Colony when he picked the ball up just outside the Bishopmill area before planting a shot into the corner of the net.
This was a good win for Colony Park with a strong performance against decent opposition.
