INVERURIE Locos as they put their Aberdeenshire Cup Final defeat behind them on Saturday, to wear down the resistance of Lossiemouth by four goals to one.
During the first few minutes of the match, the loud sound of the trumpets and drums played by the Inverurie Locos Foxlane fans was there for all to hear. The first big chance of the game happened when the ball fell to Martin Bavidge whose shot was well saved by Errol Watson.
In the 31st minute Dean Donaldson stepped up and blasted his free kick low towards the goal but again Watson made a great save. Locos nearly scored just before half time with David Ross smashing his shot which was just cleared off the line by a defender.
Minutes after the break Locos had a superb chance, Ross Anderson cut inside and his strike went flying past the post.
Locos broke the deadlock in the 61st minute when an amazing cross from the right wing was headed downwards by Dean DONALDSON into the bottom corner of the net beyond Lossie goalkeeper Watson. Seven minutes later Lossiemouth equalised when Callum DUNBAR cut open the Locos defence and went one on one with goalkeeper Andy Reid and slotted the ball past him.
Substitute Neil Gauld came close to scoring a couple minutes after coming on when his header forced Lossie goalkeeper Watson into making an outstanding save by tipping the ball over the crossbar.
Shortly afterwards Martin BAVIDGE showed great composure by smashing the ball successfully into the back of the net, and in the 83rd minute Neil GAULD headed the ball into the net from close range. Three minutes from time Andrew HUNTER performed a superb overhead kick which went flying past the goalkeeper to round off the scoring .

Inverurie Locos co-boss Scott Buchan was very satisfied his team produced the three late goals to claim the full points. He said, The players did well, it was a difficult game. There’s this thing about having to be four up by half time, not from ourselves but you hear rumblings. We did well, stuck to our task and wore them down with fairly constant waves of attack and they got their rewards in the end.”
