INVERURIE Locos are back in the swing of things as pre-season training got underway at Strathburn Park, Inverurie.

The Harlaw Park men were joined by new signings Greg Mitchell, Andy Hunter, Dean Donaldson and Ross Anderson.

Donaldson , who only moved to Victoria Park at the end of the year after ten glory-filled years at Keith, has signed up for Locos on a two-year-deal.

Donaldson follows Greg Mitchell, Ross Anderson and Andy Hunter through the Harlaw Park doors having been transfer listed by the Jags towards the end of the season, clocking up over 20 appearances.

It is an exciting signing for Red and Black followers. “Deano” as he is popularly known, is a proud member of the Keith FC 100 club - players who haocos ve netted a century of competitive goals in Maroon colours. He debuted for the Kynoch Park club in January 2003 and as an attacking midfielder has averaged 10-15 goals per season.

Excluding the North FA competitions, Donaldson has amassed the full array of medals at Highland League level. He won the big prize, the League Championship, in 2007, one Qualifying Cup, two Highland League Cups, three Aberdeenshire Shields and an Aberdeenshire Cup. A winner he certainly is - a point not missed on Locos co boss Scott Buchan:

“We knew Deano had other options but we put our case forward to him and Kenny and myself are delighted he has chosen to join us. It didn’t quite happen for him at Buckie for whatever reason, but the clear message he gave us was his desire to win more medals. That is music to our ears.

“On the right or on the left, or even through the middle, he is highly effective, I’ve come up against him regularly in my playing days. He has very good experience and is 100 per cent committed to helping bring on our younger players, just as the likes of Darren Still would have helped him when he arrived at Keith.”

Locos travel to Montrose this Saturday for a friendly away to the Links Park outfit. Kick-off is at 3pm.
