Locos face their toughest task of the season this Saturday when they travel to face Alloa Athletic in Round Three of the William Hill Scottish Cup.
Although the Wasps are not in prolific form at the moment, taking only one point from their last three League games and failing to score in their home games against Queen of the South and Falkirk, they are formidable opponents. Looking ahead to the big game, Scott Buchan said, “They were beaten three-nil at home by Queen of the South on Saturday so will be well fired up, but let’s face it, Alloa should be beating Inverurie Locos, there’s just no pressure on us.
“It’ll be a break from the League routine and we’ll enjoy playing somewhere differently. They are three divisions above us, a very professional set up, we’ll just enjoy going there and trying to do our best. We got a fairly detailed report from Aberdeen FC, so we’re very grateful for that.
“It’s a big pitch, very wide, we do train on artificial twice a week, we have played plenty of games on that surface in the past six months. Whether it is grass or artificial, Alloa are clear favourites. When playing a team in a higher League, you want to frustrate them but we also want to get the ball down and play. That sort of surface is the only way to play.
“It’s a really good test for us, They’re part time like we are, but they’ll be sharp, fit and strong. We want to go there and create some chances and see how it goes from there
