INVERURIE Loco Works FC last week revealed management team Kenny Coull and Scott Buchan had put pen to paper on extended contracts, keeping them at Harlaw Park until 2015.
The news came as a major boost to the club, with Coull and Buchan well placed to better last season’s league finish of seventh this time around, with two further shots at silverware to come this term in the form of the Breedon Aggregates Highland League Cup and the Morrison Motors (Turriff) Aberdeenshire Shield.
Last term was the duo’s debut campaign in management, having stepped up from the playing ranks in summer 2010 following the departure of Dave Cormie, with Coull returning to Harlaw Park for a third spell following a season with Formartine United.
Coull is also very much still in the thick of the playing action having played 905 minutes so far this season but yet to hit the target in competitive action, with his solitary goal coming in a pre-season friendly against Falkirk. Last term he was on the park for 1067 minutes, finding the net on eight occasions.
The club has also confirmed that a host of experienced players at the pair’s disposal have agreed to extend their contracts as well; with Neil MacLean, Craig Ross, Neil Gauld and Clark Bain also now tied up until 2014-2015.Other players have contracts through to 2013 and the club is continuing to speak to them.
Locos Chairman Willie Lippe commented, “Kenny and Scott have learned from their experience now we want to give them the opportunity to use their experience to start winning trophies and seriously challenging for the League in the next year or two
“They are good friends off the park, they seem to work well together. The fact that Kenny is still playing a bit lets Scott work on sidelines Their example can feed on to senior players at the club. Any players coming up to their 30’s should be looking to get involved in coaching and their C Licences so they can help the youngsters coming through.
“Kenny and Scott have attained that level, we want to see them move on and develop their coaching education further”
