Following Saturday’s Scottish Cup win over Burntisland which saw Inverurie Locos advance into the second round of the competition, it was far from an ecstatic co manager Scott Buchan who reviewed the game.
He said: “We didn’t give the fans much to shout about, the game was quite poor and boring if I’m being honest. Sometimes that happens in football, you can’t always be pleased. But it’s a huge boost for the club to get through, three goals and a clean sheet which adds to the players’ confidence.
“We replaced Dean Donaldson despite him wanting a hat trick, he has struggled of late with muscle injuries and was feeling his hamstring, so it was the right thing to do”
And on Monday afternoon (September 16) the draw brought brought the hard to believe match-up for Round 2. Formartine Utd v Inverurie Locos at North Lodge Park, the sides of course meeting each other in the Aberdeenshire Cup Final a fortnight later.
It means that if the Scottish Cup game ends in a draw the two teams will face up to each other three weeks in a row.
