After the match a delighted Co-Manager Scott Buchan said, “It was really good and it had to be, because Formartine are a good side. They’re obviously doing really good this season. We’re not doing too badly ourselves, yet written off by all and sundry, nothing wrong with that, it’s to be understood.
“Sometimes it can serve to fire you up again, we didn’t get the credit due. We’ve been working on things, there will be a blip now and again. We answered back in the perfect way.
“Martin Bavidge and Neil Gauld, two better goals you won’t see, I’m glad the cameras were there. Gauldy struck his one straight as an arrow. We did ride our luck a bit, Formartine unlucky to hit the post twice. But when you come here you cannot expect Formartine not to have chances.
“The most pleasing thing without a shadow of doubt was the clean sheet, but as well as the luck after the post incidents, I didn’t think they threatened too much. There were a couple off the line and they were defending for their lives. They were throwing themselves at it, it was proper defending
“The Nairn and Buckie defeats were bad ones, but when the players defend well, they’re obviously a far better team. It was a good all round team performance, they all did their job. “The strikers a great goal each. We could see they were really determined as they’ve let themselves down the last couple of weeks and that was really good to see
“But I must stress it’s only one game, they’re wanting us to jump around like dafties, like we’ve actually won the Scottish Cup. Formartine will get the chance for revenge, we’ll stand up to that on the 19th.”
