United slump to another defeat

Formartine United lost further ground in the title race when they were beaten 3-0 at Fraserburgh on Wednesday night.

United turned in a poor performance at windswept Bellslea and the Broch fully merited their win.

It took the home side just four minutes to go in front.

With Formartine caught upfield, Barbour broke clear and hammered a 15-yard drive low past keeper Watson..

Fraserburgh went further ahead in the 34th minute. Noble dispossessed McKeown and found Barbour who played in Johnston and he made no mistake from 12 yards.

A third goal arrived in the 69th minute when Johnston used wind advantage to send a 30-yard free kick soaring over the wall and past Watson.

Elsewhere, Forres Mechanics recorded a 5-2 home victory over Clach, while Brora Rangers’ fixture at Keith was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
